I bring this up to next introduce to you a woman that I have followed on Twitter for over a year now. Meet
Lori Harding. A woman who recently received an MDiv and is desiring to pastor a church.
I even pleaded with her to reconsider and listen to a Just Thinking
podcast concerning this matter. Alas, she never responded back.
Now, I know what you’re probably thinking. “Why be concerned over this? Just unfollow her and move on with your life.” Bottom line is: I’m stubborn. I would rather remain friends and hope to be a light to these types of people who have been ill-informed concerning Scripture. Maybe even have an online discussion one on one.
Throughout her Twitter feed, I’ve seen many things that concerned me over her theology. (she claims to be Reformed, but seems to be following a very Liberal understanding of Scripture) She also had a respect for Rachael Held Evans (a woman who taught poor theology and doctrines) shortly after she died from a brain tumor.
Lori has a belief that men are the issue within the church. Throughout her feed, she often mentions about the “patriarchy”. A common word and meme that many 3rd wave feminists throw out in order to cause men to feel guilty for being “a man”.
So much so, she doesn’t even participate in a church. She claims that it’s complicated.
Lori refuses to be an active part of the Church Body, but still desires to lead a church in a leading pastoral role.
In fact, she follows many other women who are in the position of Pastor.
This is concerning. I write this to not just expose these types of “teachers” but to also point out that many of these women pastors genuinely have a severe hatred for men. She claims that there is so much misogyny within the Church, and yet her very words show her as a misandrist. (hence the title of this article)
Are there abuses within the Church that men have been guilty of? Absolutely. And those men are unqualified to lead if they have done anything to hurt anyone in whatever fashion. But that does not mean that we throw the baby with the bathwater. Just because a Pastor (who is a man) abused another person within a church, doesn’t mean ALL men are guilty of the same sin. It’s a case by case scenario that must be dealt within the Body from the Elders. What Lori is doing, along with many other women who have fallen into the trap of 3rd Wave Feminism, is putting men under the category of “guilty by association”. Because some have committed this crime, ALL are the problem. A deeply troublesome future for the Church Body.
