I wish to review an Angela Davis video in regards to capitalism. Here is the video:
The questioner states that capitalism contained in itself the “seed of its destruction”, then it would later be replaced by communism or socialism. The issue is that communism would simply have the “seed of its destruction”. This seems to be obviously self-defeating philosophy. Marx’s view of history itself is merely subject to its own synthesis. Truth isn’t some eternal thing that is discovered but rather a historical process. Marx’s own view isn’t absolutely true, but rather is of many ideas.
She goes on to talk about how in certain communist countries citizens didn’t have to worry about paying rent and etc. Of course, none of these countries were named and we were merely told that capitalism victory was merely an “appearance of victory”. That we should merely pretend that it was merely the lack of democracy in other countries that allowed for those evils to occur. It hardly is the case that democracy fixes anything. It is the nature of democracy to be arbitrary.
I don’t understand how Christians are deceived into thinking property rights are immoral or don’t exist. Why would God condemn theft if no one owns property? What right to life do you have if you don’t own your life?
Furthermore, it seems Ms. Davis probably should’ve faced jail time for possibly participating with the murder of 4 people:
Ms. Davis claimed that she was innocent, and her case became a cause celebre, as the international communist movement bankrolled her defense and organized a worldwide movement to “Free Angela.” Eventually, she was acquitted in 1972, despite her proven ownership of the murder weapons and a cache of letters she wrote to George Jackson in prison expressing her passionate romantic feelings for him and unambivalent solidarity with his commitment to political violence.

Even some at the Washington post find it difficult to honor such a figure. She even supported the Rusian dictatorship imprisoning political dissidents. I guess anything for communism to succeed.
