The Gospel

What is the Gospel? In its purest form, it is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Son of God, for the forgiveness of the sins to all who believe. The “Gospel” means “Good News”, so the question becomes, in what way is this good news?

A Lost and Dying World

Let’s begin by understanding how we got here and why we need this good news. We live in a cursed and fallen world, and because of this every single person born in to this world falls under the curse and its effects. The naturalist would just say that is just how it has always been, but the truth is we are born in to this state of being because of the sin of one man and thus his progeny all inherit this from him. (Rom 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21)

The Cure

So we are all born in to a cursed fallen world, and if you can’t see this… open your eyes to what is actually happening around the world, what can we do about it? Can we just fight hard against the curse and work together to make this world a better place for all? NOPE! That is an impossible, unattainable altruistic dream by those who deny reality. The fallen human nature will always win out when it comes to doing evil against there fellow humans. It is their default state (Eph 2:3). If you are expecting humanity to rise up as a collective to make a fair and just society, you will be waiting forever. BUT, there is actual hope for mankind, God has provided a way!

The Way

What is our only hope? God has sent his very own Son to be a propitiation for our sins(1 John 2:2). Jesus, the Son of God, was born in to this sinful world by the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, and He died as a ransom on a cross for His people. And now when His people are looked at by God, He sees His Son, and not our wicked and fallen selves. That begs the question then of who His people are… glad you asked.

His People

So who are His people? Quite simply, it is all who believe on the Lord Jesus and His death burial and resurrection (Rom 10:9)! How can we be so assured of this salvation? Allow me to state a few things revealed to us in the very words of God. First we are told in Romans 10:13 and also in Acts 2:21 that ALL who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved. Also in 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 we are told that though by the sin and fall of Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. This means if you are found in your natural state, you will die and face the consequences of your sin, BUT if you are found in Christ you will live forever.

The Gospel

The reason John 3:16 is so often sited is because it is in its essence a very direct Gospel presentation: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ” The truth is, you are mortal and will die! That is not the end for whether you like it or not, whether you believe it or not, you will face eternal judgement from the Creator apart from your belief in Him (2 Cor 5:10). I want you to know He is a just God and has provided you a way of forgiveness and eternal blessed life. Me and my brethren can give you all kinds of arguments for God such as transcendentals, moral, the impossibility of the naturalistic views and so much more, but that is not what will convict you. If you are not saved, you already know in your heart that there is a God and you have sinned against Him(Psa 14:1, Rom 1:18-22).

Final Plea

I implore all who read this to heed the words written in scripture and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus for you salvation. Eternity is a long time to be wrong and that pride is not worth it. There is more and though you may be trying to suppress it, deep down you know the truth. That Truth is Jesus and He will set you free! Call Him!
