Sola Fide

This will be a collection of resources on the topic of Justification by faith alone. This is the witness of the New Testament that men are justified by faith alone and saved by grace alone. This is the position of the Christian faith: Clement (80-140 A.D.): So all of them received honor and greatness, not through themselves or their own deeds or the right things they did, but through his will. And we, therefore, who by his will have been called in Jesus Christ, are not justified of ourselves or by our wisdom or insight of religious devotion or the … Continue reading Sola Fide

Death

Today, my dog that I have had almost my entire life passed away. This year a theologian that I used to help understand Sola Fide passed away(R.C. Sproul). Death is indiscriminate. It doesn’t choose things on the basis of ethnicity, class, or abilities. It shows us our mortality and shows the curse that is upon this world(Rom. 5:12-19, 8:20-22). The objection cuts both ways. How do you know you have saving faith? The Bible doesn’t say that anyone in the 20th and 21st centuries had or have faith. This system ends up with the same problems Clarkians have. ii) The other factor is that Romans 8:16 answers this. … Continue reading Can we know we are saved?
