Flowosopher

I recently was listening to Dr. Flowers on his podcast talk about the issue of Omniscience and Determinism. This is just another video where Leighton finds a popular Calvinist to refute. These Calvinist are usually the same group of guys( Piper, Sproul, Mohler, MacArthur). He considers these the heavyweights of Calvinism. He usually goes after those that aren’t that philosophically trained with his more philosophical objections. These men are theologians and not really experts on philosophical theology. Why doesn’t he respond to the works of Paul Manata, Dr. Greg Welty, Dr. James Anderson, Dr. Paul Helm, or Dr. John Frame? … Continue reading Flowosopher

Every Flowers has its thorn

Roses are Red, violets are blue. Another bad argument Dr. Flowers has brought to you. Enjoy! Dr. Flowers from “Soteriology101” and our own Bryan Forbes engaged in a conversation over twitter. Nate Davis said: The question that needs to be asked is what are the attributes of those who do cleanse themselves? Is it all their doing or God working in them? Later on in 2 Timothy it says it is God who grants repentance. Not someone waking up out of the blue (v 25) Dr. Flowers said: Never said it was “out of the blue” but in response to … Continue reading Every Flowers has its thorn

Altruistic Theaters

I have sometimes been around an unbeliever that claims they wouldn’t want Jesus to die for them and that it is wrong for him to bear the punishment they deserve. Why should Jesus have to die for me? Everyone should be responsible for themselves. It seems to me that these intuitions need to be challenged. Imagine you go to the movies and the story is about a son of a man of outstanding character has engaged in illegal activity that catches him into trouble. This man of character then engages in a story that requires if he wishes to save … Continue reading Altruistic Theaters

Natural and Free Knowledge

God’s Knowledge: In thinking about God’s knowledge theologically it was customary for many years, until and including the Reformation, to distinguish between God’s necessary knowledge and His free knowledge. The distinction is obvious and natural. God’s necessary knowledge includes several kinds of truths. It is the knowledge of matters such as the truths of mathematics (for example, 2+2=4). It is also the knowledge of truths such as the whole is greater than the part and no circle can be a square. God’s necessary knowledge also includes His knowledge of all possibilities, such as possible people, the possible lives they could … Continue reading Natural and Free Knowledge

Do the Jews play TAG?

I recently asked Jimmy’s thoughts on a challenge to TAG. That challenge being an OT Jew that only believes in the OT books. How would a presuppositionalist respond? Two problems: 1.) It is impossible to be neutral about the status of the New Testament. Christian Theism, as you know, presents a worldview in which the entire canon is the imperfect but providential derivation of original autographs which were divinely inspired, the whole Christian Bible standing as revelation, and therefore a worldview in which the New Testament is self-authoritative. To say only the Tanakh is revelation means one is either openly … Continue reading Do the Jews play TAG?

Did Jesus exist?

This is the silliest of all the issues I am providing links on. It also contains resources for the reliability of the New Testament. The idea that Jesus doesn’t exist has grown more popular as village atheist has grown more desperate for arguments. These will not convince them, but it will help those confused by them. Here are the resources: Tyler Vela: Special Edition – Interview with Albert McIlhenny History for Atheists… And the Rest of Us – Part 1 History for Atheists… And the Rest of Us – Part 2 “I Will Cite My Sources When You Agree With … Continue reading Did Jesus exist?
