Daniel and Antiochus

Daniel 11:36-45 36 “Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is decreed will be done. 37 He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all. 38 But instead he will honor a god of fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold, silver, costly stones and treasures. 39 He will take action against the strongest of fortresses … Continue reading Daniel and Antiochus

Present Sufferings

Isaiah 65:20 “No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, Or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed. This is sometimes thought to be referring to the Millenium reign of Christ. That is at least what Post-mil and Pre-mil proponents advocate. A sort of in-between period between the age and the age to come. The issue with those interpretations is that the text is about the “new heavens and new earth”. … Continue reading Present Sufferings

Did Jesus prophesy falsely?

Times of Darkness

We recently had in Florida a school shooting in which 17 people were murdered and others were injured. It shows us in times of darkness what true evil is. We often miss that because we usually get sucked into a political debate about gun control that probably would’ve done nothing to stop shootings like this. The problem is people assume that the government can change hearts and minds. We have this hope that the state can save us from the wickedness of other humans. This, of course, was a breakdown of the system. The FBI and PD were aware that the boy was … Continue reading Times of Darkness

Shapiro on the Afterlife

I watched a video in which a woman asked Ben Shapiro questions about his worldview. These often vary on subjects from politics to metaphysics. He gives his view of what he believes about the afterlife: https://youtu.be/z7sg7CmyMb8?t=36s He thinks we have a “divine spark” and that at the end of time we will be “absorbed” back into God. That is an interesting and strange view. It seems to me essentially incoherent. Man is essentially apart of God. He thinks there is a possibility that we might maintain our individuality, but how could we if we are united to God? If the … Continue reading Shapiro on the Afterlife
