Only punish the innocent!

The position contrary to Inherited Guilt usually operates with the understanding that we are not guilty of Adam’s transgression, but only our own and that we only receive the curse of the fall as a punishment. Ezekiel 18:20 and Original Sin

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.” This is text is presented as a “knock down” to the Pauline doctrine of Original Sin. The first claim usually is that original sin was invented by Augustine. I think those claims are false, but that isn’t what I wish to get into here.
