  I would like to begin by stating that the Holy Scriptures teach that regeneration precedes (and necessarily results in) saving faith. (Note: By this, we do not mean that regeneration occurs at a different point in time — temporal sequence — than the initial exercise of saving faith, but that the two occur in a logical sequence; regeneration and faith are contemporaneous.)
