Papal Poison

This is a collection of arguments against Sola Scriptura from Catholics. They really will be the same old arguments used by them but a collection of the refutations to them. The place to start is with the issue of the definition of Sola Scriptura: On the Meaning of Sola Scriptura Does sola Scriptura mean sole authority? What does sola scriptura mean? 1. Scripture is meant to be read in a community: Reading Scripture in community Communal reading 2. The papacy is needed for proper interpretation of the Bible and to reject it leads to “chaos”(30,000 Denominations): Clashing with Catholicism If … Continue reading Papal Poison

Presuppositionalism and TR Priority

I don’t know much about the debates in textual criticism but I know a small amount about Presuppositionalism. But I know that a group uses presuppositionalism to argue for TR priority. I think the position has issues that would possibly push it towards being Clarkianism and not Van Tilian. In TR priority thought is that God preserves his word by later and possibly throughout time giving us a document with no mistakes. This is to because it ties in with the doctrine of preservation. Now, TR priority folks don’t like that Textual Criticism done by a few folks are an … Continue reading Presuppositionalism and TR Priority

Richard Muller on the Trinity

In light of recent discussion (between those within the Council and its friends) on the doctrine of the Eternal Generation of the Son, here are Richard Muller’s relatively brief statements (from his theological dictionary) on the doctrine of the Trinity, which touch upon the issues that are part of the discussion (for more see here):   Trinitas: Trinity; viz., the existence of God as one in essence (essentia, q.v.) and three in person (persona, q.v.). The doctrine of the Trinity arises out of the church’s reflection on the biblical declaration that God is one but is known as Father, Son, … Continue reading Richard Muller on the Trinity

Francis Turretin on the Eternal Generation of the Son

Over the past six months or so, there has been some discussion within the Council concerning the doctrine of the Eternal Generation of the Son. While some of my dear brothers deny the doctrine, I affirm it and intend to defend and clarify it in the coming months as I have the time to do so. To begin, I thought it would be helpful to post a discussion of the topic from a learned reformed scholastic theologian of the 17th century: Francis Turretin (1623-1687). My hope is that the following excerpt will contribute to the discussion by putting forth not only … Continue reading Francis Turretin on the Eternal Generation of the Son

Weaponized Racism

https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/02/hate-crime-hoaxes-reflect-americas-sickness/ Jussie Smollett was accepted by the Liberal media without question. He wasn’t to be doubted or questioned and if you did you were a homophobe racist. It is always good to watch liberals fall on their face when they put all their chips on something and lose. Believe it or not, but violence against African Americans is not as high as the media presents it. But that is merely one of their many weapons. They use this issue to push every one of their other issues. They view society as an immoral competition between races and social classes. African Americans have … Continue reading Weaponized Racism

God’s Knowledge

Here Jimmy Stephens explains God’s knowledge, answers whether God has beliefs, and explains the role of God’s thoughts. (Posted on behalf of Jimmy Stephens.) God’s knowledge is twofold. God knows Himself. This knowledge consists of thoughts about Himself. Such self-attending thoughts have unique characteristics not shared by any other person. God’s thoughts about Himself are as immutable as the Person to whom they refer. God’s thoughts bear a unity; they cannot be divided into atomic propositions. God’s self-oriented thoughts are innate, entailed by what it means to be God. More examples can be given, but it should be apparent that God’s … Continue reading God’s Knowledge

Fisher on Divine Simplicity

https://godisopen.com/2019/02/13/john-frame-says-simplicity-is-a-platonic-attribute/ Chris Fisher quotes Dr. John Frame’s systematic theology in order to prove that Divine Simplicity(DDS) is Neo-Platonism. Chris Fisher then quotes Dr. Frame out of context and ignores other statements Frame has made. Chris Fisher is obviously being deceptive to … Continue reading Fisher on Divine Simplicity
