Infinite Punishment for Finite Sins?

Many atheists and annihilationist believe that nobody deserves Hell. That infinite punishment is never merited by any amount of finite sin. God must punish people in proportion to the crime. That seems intuitive but intuitions are person and culture relative. I think it is intuitive that God punishes plenty of people eternally for their crimes on earth. Man’s deeds deserve the repercussions that God places on them. Many(actually all) cases in Human history testify to the deservedness of eternal damnation. How confident are you in the intuition that finite sins cannot merit eternal damnation? Would a history lesson make you … Continue reading Infinite Punishment for Finite Sins?

Wagner on Calvinism

I recently had an exchange with Dr. Brian Wagner. He is a Professor of Theology, Church History, and Biblical Languages at Virginia Baptist College. TheSire: “reformed theology has God decreeing the fall as necessary before creation of Adam… how does that make Adam at fault for it? Not logical.” That is a philosophical objection and not an exegetical objection. Your objection is based on your intuition but who granted that intuition is the arbiter of ethical affairs? Plus your position just begs the question. It assumes what it needs to prove: That being that Determinism is incompatible with moral culpability. … Continue reading Wagner on Calvinism

Is the Holy Spirit female?

I recently had an exchange with a rather strange person that thinks the Holy Spirit is a woman that had relations with the Father to produce Jesus (Mary being their daycare). I will not be providing the original conversation, but an edited version that takes any ambiguousness out of what I’m saying. Tommy Hall: So when Mark 10:8 says that when a man leaves his parents and becomes “one flesh” with his wife, does that mean that he is now transgender? No, it means they have formed one substance. Two people; one substance. It’s beautiful, not grotesque as you make … Continue reading Is the Holy Spirit female?

Flowers on Ephesians 1

Recently, I was kicked from the Soteriology 101 anti-Calvinist bash because Leighton was offended by something in my article. He stated that he was offended and what I said was childish. I informed him that it wasn’t childish and that he was begging the question. So, in honor of that, I have decided to write another Leighton Flowers article. I am not a big fan of his and you’ll see why. ——————————————–QUOTE—————————————————– 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2 Grace and peace to you from … Continue reading Flowers on Ephesians 1

Flower Patch Kids

Dr. Leighton Flowers has recently invited someone on his podcast to butcher Romans 9. That is a ritual and passage into manhood in the lands of the traditionalist. They spend the rest of their time trolling old John Macarthur sermons. So, back to the article, it was written by Dr. Eric Hankins. This won’t be a complete response article because I’m not that dedicated. ——————————————–QUOTE—————————————————– The repugnance of reprobation is why Calvinists like Grudem come up with philosophically incoherent fixes like “single predestination,” God’s “asymmetrical relationship” to election and reprobation, God’s “two wills,” “two loves,” and so on.[7] Grudem concedes that it … Continue reading Flower Patch Kids

The Moral Psychology of Depravity

James Gibson gives his thoughts on one of Leighton’s ‘arguments’ against Calvinism. The article unpacks the fact that Leighton exercises his ability to eisegete the issue of election into Mark 10 and misrepresents a common Calvinist understanding of Total Depravity. The article is a good insight on how to frame Total Depravity while talking to a traditionalist. I think one issue is that the passage is problematic for the traditionalist. Why would it be more difficult for a Rich man to enter the kingdom of God? Doesn’t a rich person have libertarian freedom? If what Flowers believe is true, then … Continue reading The Moral Psychology of Depravity

Razor Thin Arguments

I had an exchange with a stubborn atheist of the name Ben Krueger about the issue of whether a rational atheistic worldview exists. He sliced his worldview on a Razor. Ben Krueger: also, my worldview can account for these things because those are the things that, as far as we know, simply are. That the world functions in a logical manner is my base assumption. TheSire: So, all knowledge is based on arbitrary assumptions? You are a fideist. Why should I accept your axioms over the axiom of X? The axiom states that the world is rational and that you … Continue reading Razor Thin Arguments

Gender and Biology

I was recently asked by an atheist to watch a video on transgenderism. This isn’t my field of inquiry or one of my interest, but I figured I’ll take a look. I’ll split this up into a few different areas. The issues are the views of Science, Transgenderism, and Ethics. The real issues in this debate are supposed to decide the third in this debate, but often times it is the opposite way around. I’m not a biologist nor a scientist. 1.Science The person in the video tells us his views on what science is meant for. He goes throughout the … Continue reading Gender and Biology
