Intuition and Choices

I was asked to read and comment on an article. So, let’s take a look: https://arminianperspectives.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/the-reality-of-choice-and-the-testimony-of-scripture/ It begins by stating: It may seem strange to some that there even is a debate as to what constitutes free will. The average person believes that he has free will. Whenever he is confronted with a choice he believes that he can either choose this way or that, and that either choice is a real possibility. In fact, this is what we generally think of when using the word choice. We think of the power to choose between alternatives. But the simple concepts … Continue reading Intuition and Choices

The Charge of Individualism

It is a common charge that Calvinist have a modern understanding of the Bible. The Biblical writers thought in terms of corporate bodies and federal heads. Calvinism is riddled with 16th-century individualism. Freewill Theist read the Bible historically. These are an interesting charge but the smell of rotting hypocrisy should be filling your nose by now. If you can’t see where the hypocrisy exists, then look no farther than Dr. Thomas Schreiner: Abasciano charges my view with being individualistic and western and claims that his view reflects the culture of the first century. But it seems to me that the … Continue reading The Charge of Individualism

Braxton Hunter on Presuppositionalism and Determinism

I had an exchange with Dr. Braxton Hunter on the issues of determinism, epistemology, and presuppositionalism. Braxton Hunter: no. I’m not saying LFW is intuitive (though it is). I’m saying that it’s intuitive to you that on some level an … Continue reading Braxton Hunter on Presuppositionalism and Determinism

Eric Hernandez on Presuppositionalism

Eric Hernandez went on Soteriology101 to discuss Calvinism and presuppositionalism. It wasn’t a very interesting podcast. So, I’ll state a few brief things about it and won’t waste much time about it. 1. Hernandez is simply ignorant of the actual presuppositionalists view of the role of evidence in apologetics. He thinks Van Tilians are against evidence and even quips “Elijah didn’t read Van Til”. Dr. James Anderson stated in an article about “Frequently Encountered Misconceptions of Van Til”: 1. Van Til rejected the use of evidence in apologetics [A] minority of evangelicals continues to support retrenchment and isolationism. […] Not … Continue reading Eric Hernandez on Presuppositionalism

Flower Patch Kids

Dr. Leighton Flowers has recently invited someone on his podcast to butcher Romans 9. That is a ritual and passage into manhood in the lands of the traditionalist. They spend the rest of their time trolling old John Macarthur sermons. So, back to the article, it was written by Dr. Eric Hankins. This won’t be a complete response article because I’m not that dedicated. ——————————————–QUOTE—————————————————– The repugnance of reprobation is why Calvinists like Grudem come up with philosophically incoherent fixes like “single predestination,” God’s “asymmetrical relationship” to election and reprobation, God’s “two wills,” “two loves,” and so on.[7] Grudem concedes that it … Continue reading Flower Patch Kids
